Administrator reports EZ Fiber utility strikes; village to change email domain to .gov

In the administration report, Melanie told the council the village had several utility strikes during recent EZ Fiber construction work, including at least one incident involving an unmarked gas line that still contained gas. She said public works temporarily halted contractor activity pending a meeting to review marking and procedures.
"In most cases, it's an unmarked utility that was hit," Melanie said, describing the causes and the village's request that the contractor coordinate with 811 and local marking services. She said the public works director required a meeting and temporarily stopped work until procedures were clarified.
Melanie also announced an administrative change to reduce spoofing and fraudulent emails: the village will move staff email addresses from corralis-nm.org to corralis-nm.gov beginning Aug. 3, 2026, and plans to migrate the website domain to .gov on Jan. 1, 2027. She said the old .org addresses will continue to work for at least a year to ease the transition.
Melanie asked residents to report EZ Fiber issues through a local phone line listed on the village website and noted the administration will post guidance and contact information for reporting construction issues.
