Marcus Ettis told the Jerome County Local Emergency Planning Committee that Emergency Action Plans must be site-specific, actionable and practiced with regular drills. He identified onboarding new employees and scheduling multi-shift drills as common challenges and recommended annual drill involvement by fire departments.
Ettis also recommended interagency coordination through joint site visits and tabletop exercises and noted recent EPA encouragement for industry to host LEPC tabletop discussions. He said such exercises improve mutual familiarity and help clarify notification triggers and on-scene roles during an incident.
