The Dawn Theater Governance Board on Feb. 24 encouraged the Friends of the Dawn Theater to pursue a formal management application to the Targeted Development Committee. Mary Wolfram, representing the Friends, outlined potential benefits of a Friends-managed arrangement and raised housekeeping issues the group would need to resolve.
Wolfram told the board she wanted to "gauge the feelings of Committee members regarding a potential formal application to the Targeted Development Committee for management." Board members discussed the Limited Use Agreement, the Friends' bylaws and the possibility of the Friends hiring an employee to handle private events. The committee's informal direction was for the Friends to apply and to address language in the RFP as part of that process.
The board did not take a formal vote on management at the meeting; members noted the Targeted Development Committee is already in conversation with at least one applicant. The governance board requested follow-up information from the Friends and flagged RFP language and the Limited Use Agreement as items to clarify before any formal management change.
