Ken Wiley reports tower, outage and equipment updates; Grindstone tower assembly nears completion

Ken Wiley delivered the repair-service and technical operations report, telling the board about recent, brief fiber-optic outages that affected Reno channels and the status of ordered server/UPS equipment (UPS shipment delayed in transit). He reported that the new Grindstone tower foundation is in place and the tower sections and waveguide ladder are assembled on site; he estimated about a week of remaining work before equipment can be moved up to the site.
Ken also described coordination with Premier Wireless and the contractor Q and D, tablet and software purchases for field monitoring, and that some transmitter/UPS work is still pending. Peyton, the district’s technical lead, said the district can take KUNR/KNCC audio as either an IP or analog feed and inject it onto a TV subchannel. Peyton also recommended scheduling a Technologics Zoom demo to review transcoder capabilities; board members agreed to a vendor presentation at the next meeting.
The board moved and approved the repair/service report. Staff will continue to track delivery of the remaining UPS and software licensing and will schedule the vendor demonstration for the next meeting so the board can evaluate replacement or upgrades.
