County approves $65,000 opioid grant to Jail Chaplaincy for five-year counseling program

Chief of Staff Chris Cloud presented an opioid fund grant agreement of $65,000 to Allen County Jail Chaplaincy, Inc. The funding will support a five-year commitment to administer substance-abuse counseling to incarcerated individuals using the same curriculum as Allen County Community Corrections. Cloud said the program will be offered in addition to JCAP, which is limited to 15 participants.
Commissioner Therese M. Brown moved for approval and Commissioner Ronald W. Turpin seconded; the motion passed 3-0. The agreement covers administration of the program in coordination with the sheriff’s department and the chaplaincy organization.
