Allen County Highway Director Bill Hartman presented multiple agreements with the Indiana Department of Transportation (InDOT) that the board approved by unanimous vote. The largest was an 80/20 construction inspection and reimbursement agreement for Van Zile Rd Bridge #32 with an expected county construction cost of $2,673,840.00 to rehabilitate a single-span iron truss bridge built in 1883; the bridge has been closed to through traffic since May 2025.
The board also approved an InDOT LPA contract to reimburse the county 80% for countywide bridge inspections and inventory covering a total of 402 county structures, as well as an agreement for Hamilton Rd Bridge #242 with engineering costs of $319,700 (InDOT to compensate 80%). Commissioners approved all presented InDOT items 3-0.
