The board approved an architectural services agreement with Nichols, Melberg & Roseto to begin work on converting eight Mountain House High School modular classrooms from temporary to permanent status. Staff explained that the board previously directed staff to purchase portables rather than continue leasing and that the move toward ownership is the driver for the architecture work.
"The purchasing of the portables will be approximately $715,000," staff said. The superintendent clarified that "permanent" in this context means the district will pay for and own the portables; they can still be moved later if no longer needed at the high school. Trustees asked whether moving portables would reset timelines for temporary approvals and about sprinkler requirements; staff said they did not know whether moving to a different site would reset temporary status timelines and flagged sprinkler installation as the next compliance step.
Trustee Stephanie Olsen moved to approve the architectural services agreement and Trustee Samik Modi seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
