Mountain House High ASB leaders outline expanded homecoming and student projects

Student leaders from Mountain House High School told the Lammersville Unified School District board on Sept. 3 that homecoming will expand to two weeks and include a dance on Sept. 13 and traditional rally and football events on Sept. 20. "So this year's homecoming, we've extended it to become 2 weeks," said Grama Corday, the school's ASB president.
Corday and ASB vice president Paul Meyer described summer leadership boot camp, welcome‑back festivities and a schedule of spirit‑week activities that pair high‑school class themes (seniors: Disneyland; juniors: Six Flags; sophomores: Legoland; freshmen: Universal Studios) with elementary schools choosing individual rides. "We started this 1st weeks of school with some fun festivities... We gave out otter pops at the end of the day," Meyer said, summarizing early student outreach. The students also previewed a haunted house, a multicultural winter rally and spring events including a prom trip to the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco.
Board members praised the presentation and the outreach to elementary schools. Trustee Samik Modi said he appreciated including elementary campuses in themes and Trustee Stephanie Olsen called the students' presentation a "very nice message" that showed staff commitment to student well‑being. After the presentation the board released the students to return to school activities.
