Kevin Swab, representing Cayuga County Veterans Services, summarized recent activities and upcoming events to the committee on Jan. 13.
Swab said the office assisted with more than 16 veteran benefit actions, coordinated transportation to 34 appointments at the Syracuse VA Medical Center, supported Wreaths Across America on Dec. 13 and hosted multiple appreciation events in December. He announced a Women Veterans event in Weedsport on Jan. 31, 2026 and said the county plans to start a new Veterans Breakfast in Port Byron in February.
Swab also described program-level efforts including distribution of “Green Lights for Veterans” for suicide-prevention awareness, free fitness memberships in several communities, a peer-mentorship initiative for substance-use issues, and validation procedures required for issuing free Centro bus passes to veterans.
