Cayuga County expands IT shared services with City of Auburn, officials say

County IT staff said a part-time helpdesk for City of Auburn staff is in place, MUNIS finance support is being provided and staff are reviewing the city's software purchases to identify consolidation opportunities.
Tom Bunn reported progress on a shared IT services arrangement with the City of Auburn during the Government Operations Committee meeting on Jan. 13. He said the county has established a helpdesk for City staff, is assisting with the city's finance system (MUNIS) and is providing part-time technical support three days per week.
Bunn said IT has met with City leadership (City Manager and City Comptroller) to explore additional partnership opportunities, has assigned staff to assist with MUNIS financial support, and requested the City's software purchase records to identify consolidation areas that could produce cost savings.
Committee members were told the partnership is functioning with bi-weekly leadership meetings in place and that helpdesk data and additional project staffing information will be available as the effort continues.
