CRA approves $5,000 contribution for storefront door at 18 East Main Street

The Avon Park Community Redevelopment Agency on July 27 approved using $5,000 of CRA funds to help replace a storefront door at 18 East Main Street, home to the Avon Park Gator.
Jeanette, a CRA staff member who presented the item, told the board the originally awarded contractor, Kingdom Minded Homes LLC, backed out and Central Florida Glass and Mirror Inc. submitted a new quote of $6,795. "The initial contractor that was awarded the contract... decided he could not do it and wanted to back out," Jeanette said, explaining staff sought an updated price because the prior quote was older than 90 days. She added business owners had agreed to pay the remainder if CRA approved the $5,000 contribution.
A council member moved to approve awarding the work to Central Florida Glass and Mirror in the quoted amount, and the motion passed on a roll-call vote after members confirmed the CRA's contribution would be $5,000. The board and staff noted the work covers a single door at the rear entrance of the storefront and that the business would cover costs above the CRA contribution.
