Staff updated the board that White Cloud has been taken offline and the district is now operating on the new UltiBee/Disc system. The district is exploring transmitter upgrades (Hitachi, AnyWave) and routing arrangements into the Reno hub (Fox building) to improve reliability and potentially add channels.
"White Cloud is officially offline, and everything is on the new system," a staff presenter said. The board asked for a simple, visual explanation of fiber routing for the public — "fiber for dummies" — and communications staff Crystal agreed: "If you guys get me, like, the technical information, I'll put some graphics together and make it interesting for people to see and wanna read." The board discussed an MOU with Eureka for a switch center, the possibility of one-time equipment costs to bring extra channels from Fox, and the potential to lower recurring circuit costs if redundancy and hub access are established.
