The board moved, seconded and voted to appoint Cammie Ross as board secretary and Arlissa Holford as assistant board secretary.
During discussion several trustees said they had not been included in closed-session communications or prior materials and one trustee said she would abstain from the secretary vote, citing insufficient opportunity for a substantive discussion. Trustee comments included concerns about process and the desire for a special meeting to review evaluation materials before making personnel appointments.
The roll-call results were announced from the dais and the motions carried as recorded in the meeting: the motion to appoint the secretary passed with the votes counted and recorded by the board secretary; the assistant secretary appointment followed and also carried. Several trustees reiterated the need for improved communication and a possible special session to review personnel materials before future votes.
