Clark County presents reentry strategic plan, invites community partners to join coalition

Brooke Wagner, Reentry Director for Clark County, presented the Reentry Coalition strategic plan and invited community members and direct service providers to participate in the coalition’s meetings and efforts to support justice-impacted residents.
"Community members are invited to the Reentry Coalition and the Reentry website has more information when the coalition meets," Wagner said during the March 18 meeting. Commissioners praised the coalition’s recent success stories, and Commissioner Richard L. Lohnes said a field-trip program discussed at the coalition is being improved; he also said he planned to follow up with the Sheriff’s Office on implementation details for people released from prison. Commissioner Sasha L. Rittenhouse encouraged residents to attend COPE, and Commissioner Charles A. Patterson called the Price of Poverty event "an extremely moving experience" and urged employers to participate.
The presentation prompted discussion about community engagement and potential partnerships; county administration noted that a project manager from a nonprofit has contacted the Reentry team about using Clark County’s model in Cuyahoga County. Commissioners emphasized volunteer and employer involvement as part of expanding work opportunities for justice-impacted citizens. The county will continue outreach to recruit service providers, employers and training partners.
