Public works outlines three-week schedule to finish asphalt overlay work

Heather Thomas, Public Works Director, gave a multi-point update on the HMA asphalt overlay project, explaining the contractor demobilized for RAGBRAI, returned, and completed the surface course near Lenox today.
"Tomorrow, they will be working in the area South Of Anson Street and East Of Highway 14. They are hopeful to get the surface course in that area done within a day," Thomas said. She outlined subsequent work on the west side of Highway 14 including blocks that may require additional base work and said those locations would receive door hangers notifying residents about driveway access interruptions.
Thomas said following the surface course there will be manhole box outs and some curb replacement and that the surface work is expected to continue over the next approximately three weeks, with some blocks requiring additional base repairs that could extend work in specific locations.
Council thanked Thomas for the update; no formal action was taken during the meeting.
