Cuesta students present yearlong ASB calendar, including inclusive talent show and health fair

Students and staff from Cuesta Elementary opened the Aug. 20 Lammersville Joint Unified School District board meeting by leading the Pledge of Allegiance and presenting their Associated Student Body (ASB) plans for the year. Vice Principal Maderos introduced ASB president Adi and peer Mahal Rafe, who described a back-to-school pride rally, an all-grades talent show that will include visual and performing arts and special-education participation, and a planned health fair with local-agency partners.
"We plan on kicking off school with a back to school pride rally, as well as an all inclusive talent show, including all grades, including special education," Adi said during the presentation. Trustees commended the students: Trustee Stephanie Olsen called the efforts "very well thought out and planned very early on," and President Lisa Boulet congratulated students and staff on recent test scores. The board encouraged continued engagement and outreach to families, and thanked the Cuesta delegation for attending the meeting.
The presentation included a calendar of events stretching from early September through mid-February, highlighting themed spirit weeks (including a kindness week in February) and a December "Deck the Halls" event, giving the board a clear schedule of student-led activities for the upcoming months.
