The Wyoming County Finance Committee on March 3 authorized permission to sign a purchase agreement with Cornell Cooperative Extension to acquire Camp WYOMOCO for up to $1.75 million, contingent on two appraisals accepted by the state, a technical appraisal review and the county being awarded and accepting a grant.
Supervisor Leuer moved the action; the motion carried with seven supervisors recorded as voting Aye and one supervisor absent. The committee recorded “a considerable amount of discussion” before the vote, with several supervisors saying they were not completely sold on the county purchasing the site as a county park.
Supervisor May said she will discuss the proposal with her town board at its March 12 meeting and has invited County Administrator Schrader to offer more information at that local session. County Administrator S. Schrader will provide details as requested and the purchase permission remains contingent on the appraisal and grant conditions spelled out in the committee action.
The committee referred the matter as a non‑consent resolution for full board consideration. The authorization does not obligate county funds beyond the stated contingencies; the purchase can proceed only after the required appraisals are accepted by the state and the county accepts the grant that would fund the acquisition.
