Margo Castro, newly appointed parish chair for the LSU AgCenter in Lafourche Parish, updated the council on the office's outreach and services and introduced her staff. "Thank you for your continuous support in helping us provide many, many programs and reach many youth and adult clientele within the parish," Castro said, and pointed council members to two quarterly pamphlets distributed to the dais.
Castro said her office is available to respond to parish needs and encouraged officials and residents to contact the extension with questions. Staff introductions detailed program areas: Renee Nacan works with sugarcane growers and research transfer; Becky Gautreaux serves as nutrition and community health agent; Camille Brady covers livestock and forage; Toni Cortez is the new 4‑H youth development agent; and Suzanne Troxclair said the 4‑H program engages "approximately 800 plus 4‑H members each year" across public, Catholic, private and home‑school programs. "We welcome you to come on in and join us," Troxclair said, noting a sugar‑and‑seafood/cotton contest hosted at Galliano Elementary on Nov. 7 that usually draws about 250 volunteers.
Council members thanked the staff for their service. The presentation was informational; no council action was required. The AgCenter left contact information with the council and encouraged officials to refer constituents with agricultural, nutrition or youth‑program needs to their office.
