Bill Baranowski (Jones and Associates) presented Salt Lake City’s approach to using temporary and permanent roundabouts as an intersection treatment. Baranowski summarized when the City considers roundabouts and discussed "screening criteria and cost ranges," noting examples of both temporary and permanent installations.
Baranowski said temporary roundabouts allow the City to pilot intersection changes at lower cost and with faster implementation timelines than full reconstruction, helping planners test performance before committing to permanent designs. Members in attendance received the overview and were referred to example projects and screening materials shared during the presentation.
