Kingsburg Joint Union High School District appoints two assistant superintendents

The Kingsburg Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees appointed Rufino Ucelo Jr. as Assistant Superintendent of Business Services and Heather Wilson as Assistant Superintendent of Student Services effective July 1, 2025. The appointments were reported out of closed session and each motion carried 3-0 with two trustees absent.

Rufino Ucelo Jr., previously identified in meeting materials as the district's Chief Business Official, will move into the new Assistant Superintendent of Business Services role. The motion to approve Ucelo's appointment was made by Rick Jackson and seconded by Brent Lunde; the board recorded a unanimous vote among members present. Heather Wilson, principal of Kingsburg High School, will become Assistant Superintendent of Student Services; the board approved her appointment in the same vote sequence.

Wilson told the board earlier in the meeting that "The 2024-2025 school year ended successfully. It was a good year!" as part of her principal's report, noting about 450 students were attending summer school. Board members tied the appointments to ongoing district planning and implementation work, including the Master Plan Steering Committee output the superintendent said will be presented next month. The board reported the appointments after meeting in closed session from 4:20 to 4:50 p.m.

The board's action creates an administrative structure the district will use to oversee business operations and student services going into the 2025-26 school year. The minutes show each appointment passed on a 3-0 vote; trustees Mike Serpa and Johnie Thomsen were recorded as absent.
