Commission approves $16,816 stair-chair purchase for ambulance; ambulance official flags SB211 reimbursement changes

The Clark County Board voted Feb. 17 to allow AA Hohm to order a motorized Stryker stair chair for Station I in Clark at a cost of $16,816.85. The purchase will be funded by donations from Northwestern Energy ($1,000.00), Crocker Wind Farm ($5,000.00), Clark Area Foundation ($5,816.85) and a $5,000 grant from SD Assurance Public Alliance, which together cover the listed cost; the motion passed unanimously.
During the ambulance report, AA Hohm told the board that Senate Bill 211 will affect reimbursement from insurance companies for ambulance services and summarized differences in reimbursement amounts among insurers. Hohm recommended evaluating the county's current rate schedule; the minutes record that the current rate schedule will be evaluated at the next board meeting.
