Clark County approves bridge reinspection resolution; will pay 20% match for SDDOT inspections

The Clark County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 17 approved Resolution 10-26 to participate in the Bridge Inspection Program under 23 CFR 650. The resolution authorizes the South Dakota Department of Transportation to retain Imeg Consultants to perform required inspections, with Clark County responsible for 20% of inspection costs.
The resolution text states that the county "is desirous of participating in the Bridge Inspection Program." Commissioners voted to approve the measure on a motion by Commissioner Francis Hass, seconded by Commissioner Chris Sass, with all five commissioners voting aye. Highway staff member HS Eggleston told the board that the state has posted load limits on state roads and that he plans to post load limits on Clark County roads this week to reflect current conditions.
The resolution cites 23 CFR 650 Subpart C, which requires initial bridge inspection and reinspections at intervals generally no longer than two years (four years for certain concrete box culverts that meet specified criteria). The board delegated the contracting and federal-approval steps to SDDOT and acknowledged the county's obligation to provide the statutory 20% matching funds.
