Chairman Sara Gjerde called the Clark County Board of Commissioners into special session at 10:00 a.m. on Jan. 23, 2026, in the Commissioner Room of the Clark County Courthouse. Commissioner Sass moved to approve the meeting agenda and Commissioner Francis Hass seconded; the motion carried with all voting aye.
Later in the session, Commissioner Terry Schlagel moved and Commissioner Sass seconded that the board enter an executive session at 10:03 a.m. to discuss "the qualities, competence, character of prospective public officer," citing SDCL 1-25-2(1). Chairman Gjerde declared the board out of executive session at 10:48 a.m. The special session adjourned at 10:51 a.m.; the board set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.
