Council renames Town Center Butterfly Garden for volunteer Wilda Turner

Keep Kennedale Beautiful presented a memorial renaming of the Town Center Butterfly Garden to honor Wilda Turner, a longtime volunteer and Master Gardener who helped establish and maintain the demonstration garden.
"Naming the garden in Wilda's honor is a fitting tribute," the presenter said. Councilmember Jeff Navaros moved to rename the garden to the Wilder Turner Butterfly Garden; the motion was seconded and passed 5–0. Councilmembers and volunteers shared brief memories of Turner’s leadership in the garden and asked KKB to return with signage and a plan for a dedication or ribbon-cutting.
The mayor congratulated the volunteers and acknowledged Wilda Turner’s community service. Staff and KKB said they would follow up with design and a future dedication ceremony.
