Florence Mayor Julia Abisham opened a swearing-in ceremony for the city’s newest Fire & EMS personnel during the council meeting. Chief Friend introduced each hire, citing education and prior service for recruits including firefighter EMT Charles Woodring and paramedics Catherine Cheepp and Caitlin Walton.
Chief Friend said, "Tonight, we have Florence Fire and EMS's newest members to be sworn in tonight," and provided short biographies for each recruit, including training at the Fire Academy of Kentucky and prior EMS service. Mayor Abisham told the new staff, "We congratulate all of them for joining our team. We thank you for sharing them with us. Welcome to our family." The ceremony concluded with the group oath and an invitation for family photos.
