Jan Johnson, executive director of CASA of the High Plains, briefed commissioners on recent program progress: a January event produced several thousand dollars, the board has expanded and committees have been established (policy, finance, fundraising, GRAMA, youth engagement), and the program is pursuing United Way partnership for client referrals and funding.
She said the program currently has four advocates and is handling 12 active cases, seven of which are in the final stage. Johnson described plans to increase youth engagement through shadowing and in‑house training to produce a steadier pipeline of advocates. "We have 4 advocates now... currently we are running 12 cases right now," she said, and invited commissioners to attend an open-board meeting in April.
