Council adopts FY2026–27 interim budget to provide July 1 authority

Toquerville’s City Council approved a resolution adopting an interim budget for Fiscal Year 2026–27 on June 3. City Manager Ben Billingsley described the interim budget as providing authority from July 1 until the final budget is adopted, and said it was a new concept for some entities deciding whether to include Truth in Taxation in budget adoption.
Billingsley described changes incorporated into the interim budget: a reduction in permit revenue projections, a reduction in legal expenses, reductions in street maintenance, proportional department reductions, and reallocation of code-enforcement wages. Councilman Wayne Olsen moved approval and Councilman Todd Sands seconded; the motion carried 4-0. The interim budget gives staff authority to operate until the final budget is adopted and does not substitute for the full budget-adoption process.
