The Toquerville City Council voted on June 3 to approve a General Plan amendment and a corresponding zoning map change for parcel Tax ID T-149, shifting the approved Future Land Use designation from Residential to Agricultural and rezoning the parcel from R-1-20 to A-0.5.
Planning & Zoning Administrator Emily Teaters summarized the application and noted the Planning Commission had recommended approval. Applicant Nolan Pearson spoke about the parcel’s current zoning and intent. Lori Cole commented during the public hearing that she was in favor of the change. Councilwoman Jenny Chamberlain moved to approve the General Plan amendment and later moved to approve the ordinance to amend the official zoning map; both motions passed unanimously (4-0).
The rezoning and General Plan amendment will change allowable land uses on the parcel; staff and the applicant should follow required notice and permitting steps before any new use or development proceeds.
