Council updates facility rental fees, says exclusive amphitheater rentals must cover city costs

On May 12 the American Fork City Council approved an update to the General Fee Schedule for facility rentals aimed at aligning rental fees with city costs for staffing and event support.
Community Services Director Derric Rykert explained that the Quail Cove amphitheater fee covers a full‑day exclusive rental and that organizers of large events may also pay special-event fees and costs for police support when attendance exceeds 500. "If someone wants exclusive use of the facility, they should pay the fee," Rykert said during the discussion. Council Member Ernie John added that fees are intended to offset actual city expenses rather than serve as a revenue grab.
Council Member Clark Taylor moved to approve Resolution No. 2026-05-23R updating the General Fee Schedule; the motion passed with four yes votes from council members present. The updated schedule will be incorporated into city fee publications and applied to future rentals and event permits.
