Alma appoints new utility and gas superintendents; names NPGA voting representative

Mayor Hal Haeker recommended the appointment of Travis Dunse as Utility Superintendent and Kent Fleischmann as Gas Superintendent upon the retirement of longtime Utility/Gas Superintendent Russ Pfeil; the council approved the appointments by motion, with actions effective July 9, 2026. The appointments follow Pfeil’s announced retirement and were moved by Joel Wheeler and seconded by Larry Casper.
The council also approved naming Kent Fleischmann as the City of Alma's voting member to the National Public Gas Agency (NPGA) and adopted Resolution 7-2026 to formalize that representation. Councilors voted in favor on roll call and the changes will be reflected in NPGA records and internal city staffing rosters.
