Board approves First Interim Budget report as district pursues deficit reversal

The Sebastopol Union School District Board approved the district’s First Interim Budget Report at its Dec. 16 meeting. Lynda Williams presented the report, and Trustee Lisa Bauman moved the motion to approve, seconded by Trustee Colin Foulke. The motion passed on a recorded 4-1-0 vote.
Superintendent Sara Gramm and charter school leader Chris Topham were among those who referenced financial pressures: Topham told the board the Sebastopol Independent Charter School submitted its First Interim report last week and is making changes to reverse deficit spending while maintaining strong reserves. The board did not discuss detailed dollar figures in the oral meeting minutes; the written First Interim report contains the financial detail included in the record.
Trustees requested continued oversight at upcoming meetings and the district will post the board packet and budget documents on its public site for review.
