At the Oct. 10 meeting of the Sebastopol Union School District Board of Trustees, several neighbors raised complaints about noise from the recently upgraded Brook Haven field and asked the district to follow environmental and education rules.
Jay Goldin told the board he considers the current noise levels "intolerable," said he has sent multiple emails and letters he believes were ignored, and asked the district to commit to not installing bleachers or lights at the field. Shelli Goldin and longtime neighbor Tom Lindburg echoed those concerns, saying construction and ongoing use have disrupted their living environment and that mitigation is needed. The speakers urged the Board to follow the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the California Education Code and local city noise ordinances.
Board members took the comments during the public-comment portion; no formal response or vote followed the remarks. The matter was not placed on the agenda for immediate action, though trustees later discussed related facilities work and a future MOU item was continued for additional information.
