The Plevna Town Council voted to try extended hours at the town container site, approving a trial schedule of Saturdays 7:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and Wednesdays 5:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
Clerk/Treasurer Ashley Bondell told the council several residents asked the office for longer container site access. Mayor Gary Thielen suggested opening eight hours on Saturdays; Councilwoman Promise Miller supported a summer extension and noted the hours can be reverted if use does not increase. The council directed Dump Site Operator Mark Thielen to track any change in usage during the trial period.
The council also discussed previously proposed capital purchases for the site. Mayor Thielen asked whether Baker Metal would hold pricing for a compactor bin until the next budget year; the bin price cited in the meeting was $4,000. The council did not finalize purchase but agreed to consider budgeting for the compactor next fiscal year.
