Wabaunsee County, city mayors open quarterly dialogue to coordinate services and emergency response

Commissioner James W. MacGregor called a Wabaunsee County special meeting to order March 30 at the McFarland Senior Center and said the gathering was intended to "open communication between the County and Cities." Commissioners Jim W. MacGregor, Nancy Hier and Boyd Davis and mayors from Alma, McFarland, Alta Vista, Maple Hill, Eskridge and Paxico attended in person.
Mayors and municipal officials used the forum to outline local experiences, successes and challenges that could intersect with county services and emergency planning. Attendees endorsed holding similar meetings quarterly to maintain collaboration; county staff said the next meeting will be scheduled for June or July 2026.
