New Milford to receive $2.6 million for Boardman Road bridge rehabilitation

"We will be receiving $2,600,000 towards the Boardman Road Bridge project," Mayor Pete said, thanking state representatives Buckbee, Callahan and Bucksbaum and state Senator Harding for their support and the Connecticut Department of Transportation for advancing the town's application. He clarified this award applies to the bridge residents currently drive on and is intended for rehabilitation work.
The mayor said the town had earlier applied for a different grant for the older Boardman span and was denied, but that the current award covers bridges in active use. He said the town will provide more details to the council in August, and that the project will require coordination with state officials on design and timing.
