Historical Society seeks county support for Roebke House remodel and museum masonry work

Layne Hunley, president of the Jackson County Historical Society, and past president Suzette McCord-Rogers asked the board for funding for 2027 to support foundation work and remodeling at the Roebke House at 216 New York and masonry restoration at the museum on the square. They said the society has partnered with a homeschool group and Bookman Library to offer genealogy resources and will have space in the library addition designated for genealogy research.
Chairman Mark Pruett thanked them for their work; Commissioner Kelly asked what the society does to highlight historical buildings in outlying cities and recalled past events such as barn tours. Suzette McCord-Rogers offered to conduct oral-history interviews to capture more local stories.
