Josh Christensen, representing event organizers, told Council staff had solicited quotes from four companies and that the selected vendor remained the lowest-cost option. Christensen said the vendor provided a $5,000 credit for last year’s technical issues and offered a $5,000 pyrotechnics package at no cost contingent upon fire-department approval. He added that the vendor conducted testing from three locations to address prior connectivity problems and planned to launch from a different location this year.
The PARC Tax Advisory Board requested $43,000 for the Steel Days Drone Show and recommended funding $30,000 this cycle, with the committee noting organizer flexibility in structuring the show and potential credits for prior problems. Council Member Clark Taylor asked staff whether alternatives were investigated; staff reported multiple quotes had been received.
