Troup County authorizes up to $900,000 for public-safety camera system, names Motorola Solutions as vendor

County staff presented a plan to deploy a countywide public-safety camera and license-plate-recognition (LPR) system funded from SPLOST 6 and requested authorization to proceed with an initial purchase and authority to approve subsequent work orders up to a $900,000 cap. The board approved a motion naming Motorola Solutions as vendor and authorizing up to $900,000 subject to the Master Services Agreement, a governmental addendum and available funding.
County Attorney (reading the proposed motion) framed the request: "To approve Motorola Solutions as the vendor, authorize up to $900,000 for LPR equipment and services, approve the initial Motorola proposal and authorize execution of additional proposals within that amount, subject to the Master Services Agreement, the governmental addendum and available funding." Staff said the initial purchase would be about $700,000 with later work orders to reach the upper limit as needed. The board approved the authorization by voice vote.
Staff noted the funds were allocated under SPLOST 6 for public-safety camera systems and that the allocation represented roughly 45% of the county's total allotment for the camera project; staff estimated equipment could be on site within about two months after ordering.
