County Appraiser Kate Immenschuh told the Board that cutting staff in the Appraiser’s Office would increase the error rate and strain the office’s ability to complete work on schedule. She said the 17% appraisal process begins in January or February for preparation and that field data collection typically occurs in spring and summer, sometimes not starting until April. Immenschuh said Jamey is still in training and cannot yet assume full appraisal duties.
Commissioner Keith Kelly asked whether positions could be seasonal; Immenschuh said the training required makes a seasonal model impractical. She described current staff roles: Carrie and Amanda perform data collection, Kaylee handles quality control and Orion input, and Kate and Jamey complete quality checks. The Commissioners discussed potential reductions but were warned the office would struggle to keep up with reduced staffing.
