Planning staff explained the church would exceed the normal allowable sign area given frontage on South Pine Street and described a proposal to raise brick columns to accommodate the display. Jonathan McLean, the sign representative, told commissioners the installed display could be dimmed and, if necessary, "we could always put it on photocell and turn the sign off at night too," adding the unit could be set as low as "63 nits." Commissioners and staff noted the packet included photometric data and voted to approve the request 7–0.
The vote authorizes the sign variance; the applicant must follow any final staff conditions and technical specifications shown on the approved plan.
