Silverdale residents seek 20 mph posting and 'No Thru Commercial Traffic' signs on 155th/256th; commissioners table action

County Administrator Lucas Goff summarized an engineering study for the 155th and 256th Roads and reported the consultant concluded that changing posted speed limits would have negligible effect because most drivers travel below 35 mph.
Silverdale Township resident Robin Schultz asked the commission to post a 20 mph speed limit and install No Thru Commercial Traffic signs on the route from the quarry around 256th Road to the highway, saying residents want safer roads and preservation of pavement condition. Township Trustee Brett Martin said the township will pay for signage and asked for county assistance with installation. Goff said he would take the county engineer to the site and also asked the engineer to inspect a low-water bridge for weight-limit concerns.
Commissioners asked County Counselor Mark Krusor to check whether the county can post speeds below the engineer's recommended range and whether No Thru Commercial Traffic signs are allowable; the board tabled the matter to the March 3 meeting for further review.
