RPO staff: potential MPO transition unlikely to change current phasing process

A member asked whether an impending change from RPO to MPO status would change the current phasing or review process. Staff answered that MPO designation is census based and that any federal review tied to an MPO boundary would likely be addressed after the 2030 census; meanwhile the RPO is the appropriate vehicle for the 2027–2055 plan and can smooth the transition.
Benyon said the group can discuss the benefits of MPO inclusion and work through the Council of Governments process; he emphasized there are additional opportunities to provide comment and that staff will bring clarifications to the COG and future meetings.
