Resident urges cleanup of long-neglected gully behind 28th Street

During the public-comment period, LaDonna Breaux reported a drainage problem (referred to by residents as "the gully") behind 28th Street adjacent to the newest car wash and a large parking lot. She said her family has lived in the house since 1973 and that the gully was maintained for decades but became overgrown after Hurricane Harvey. "I don't know what you call it, but we call it a gully my whole life…It just needs attention," she told the council.
Breaux said she has called the drainage district multiple times and sometimes waits months for a response; she asked the council to help get the maintenance issue addressed and noted there have been changes in leadership at the drainage district over recent years. Council members acknowledged the concern and suggested staff or local officials may be able to assist with next steps.
