Grantsville presented a nearly complete update to its transportation master plan at the Tooele Valley RPO meeting on March 9, saying the city used grant funding to refresh its inventory and plan for future growth.
The city’s community and economic development director (introduced during the meeting as Bill Kobe) said the update—started in October and funded in part with $90,000 in grants—reviews pavement condition, functional road classifications and average daily traffic. Kobe told the RPO the plan emphasizes active transportation and safety, including separated paths and bike facilities, because Grantsville expects significant development: “We’re anticipating doubling that over the next 25 years, getting up to, around, 30,000, 35,000 people.”
Presenters identified corridors for future east–west connectivity (Durfee Street and connections near the industrial area) and discussed coordination with county and adjacent municipal plans and with the Army depot for right‑of‑way needs. Members asked about trail alignments and how the plan will reflect connections to schools and transit; staff said they will continue to refine cross‑jurisdiction alignments and will defer detailed design decisions to later phases.
The presentation was informational; no formal action was taken. Staff invited follow‑up questions and indicated they will work with UDOT and regional partners to integrate the master plan into the broader RPO and state planning processes.
