Royal City to raise residential trash rates 4% starting Sept. 1

Finance Director Janice Flynn told council that proposed solid‑waste rates include a 4 percent increase in trash removal fees. Council agreed with the recommendation and the minutes state an ordinance will be presented to the council on Aug. 19, 2025 to adopt the new rates; the rate change is scheduled to take effect Sept. 1, 2025.
The minutes do not include the current or new absolute dollar amounts for residential rates, nor do they provide projected revenue or rate‑payer impact by household. Council asked that rates be reviewed again for 2026.
