County approves belly-dump beds and a Massey Ferguson mower for Public Works

Jordan also reported on a mower replacement for District 1 after a claim: he said only two vendors bid (Massey Ferguson from John Schmidt & Sons at $78,100 and John Deere from Prairieland Partners at $91,618.56) and that insurance paid $76,000 toward the damaged machine. The commission approved purchase of a 2026 Massey Ferguson 5M.115C not to exceed $78,100; the motion passed 3-0.
Jordan explained the operational safety benefits of belly-dump beds, saying they are safer when trucks are on busy highways or when overhead power lines are present. County procurement accepted the lowest responsive bids where available and authorized the purchases.
