Board to consider $54,903 cap for new Fire Marshal pickup and equipment

Troup County staff told commissioners the Fire Marshal's office needs a four-door pickup for a new deputy fire marshal starting tomorrow and recommended a 2026 Chevy Silverado priced at $46,903 with emergency equipment and decals not to exceed $8,000, for a total not to exceed $54,903 to be paid from the fire department account.
Zach Steele said staff considered a used 2022 F-150 with 62,000 miles listed at about $35,000 and a state-contract new four-door at $55,410 but recommended the GM Auto Gallery Silverado at $46,903 as the best value. “We were the staff recommendation was to go with the GM Auto Gallery…at $46,903 dollars, and we're requesting an additional $8,000 for the emergency equipment and decals not to exceed a total of $54,903,” Steele said.
Commissioners had no further questions in the work session and agreed to take the purchase up at tonight's business meeting for formal authorization.
