Board hears committee reports: strong forestry revenue, staffing updates and Finance priorities

Supervisor Erickson reported strong forestry stumpage revenue of $264,216, an increase of $36,526 from the prior year. Law enforcement staffing improved as Supervisor Hiller said two dispatchers completed the Jail Academy and dispatch is now fully staffed; hiring a deputy remains a challenge. Finance Chair Wolff outlined eight priority areas for the county manager including completing time-tracking software implementation, drafting a formal IT strategy, process improvements for accounts payable and payroll, continuing wage-study implementation, following benefits study recommendations, improving budgeting to eliminate audit weaknesses, and formalizing the Office of Administration roles under statute 59.19.
The Highway committee previewed discussion of Sourcewell and a possible $63,000 portable traffic light purchase, and Land & Water Conservation reported active hiring (37 applicants, eight interviews) and outreach activities.
