Sequim's capital plan finds citywide park acreage adequate but flags neighborhood needs

She said the city has 13 parks ranging from small pocket parks to a nearly 43-acre site and that the overall citywide standard used is nine acres per 1,000 population. "The evaluation showed there's sufficient parkland citywide based on that level of service," she said, but staff noted a specific gap in neighborhood-park acreage and recommended targeting roughly five additional acres for neighborhood parks.
The capital facilities plan incorporates portions of the 2022 parks and open-space master plan and updates level-of-service analysis using the current growth allocation. Staff identified 14 parks projects on the 20-year list and three projects on the 6-year CIP; funding sources discussed included grants, park impact fees and general fund allocations.
