Towns must pay for mosquito spraying; commissioners accept 2026 weed-control bids

Weed Supervisor Jenkins told the Clark County Board of Commissioners on March 17 that federal grant dollars are not available this year to cover mosquito spraying and that each town will be responsible for paying for the service. Five towns have asked for spraying and Jenkins warned the board about one entity that maintains multiple no-spray zones, which will require further discussion.
Jenkins opened the 2026 weed-control bids and presented a vendor price sheet showing multiple suppliers and line-item prices. For example, Nutrien Solutions listed Tordon 22K at $48.60 per gallon while VanDiest Supply listed Tordon22K at $49.83 per gallon. After reviewing availability and price, the board approved a motion to accept all 2026 weed bids. The motion, made by Commissioner Terry Schlagel and seconded by Commissioner David Spieker, passed with all voting aye.
